ABSTRACT

Introduction The Syndrome of Inappropriate ADH Secretion (SIADH) is one of the most common causes of hyponatremia among medical inpatients. The evolution of SARS-CoV-2 infection over recent years has led to atypical presentations, one being in the form of acute symptomatic hyponatremia secondary to isolated SIADH not associated with pneumonia. CASES We report a series of three unusual cases of Category 2 COVID-19 infection presenting with acute symptomatic hyponatremia secondary to SIADH. All three patients presented with symptoms of acute severe hyponatremia and coincidentally tested positive for SARSCoV- 2 virus without respiratory tract symptoms and normal chest imaging. All patients were fully vaccinated and boosted at least 3 months before the presentation. Clinical and biochemical workup confirmed SIADH in all three patients. They were treated with hypertonic saline in the initial phase, followed by fluid restriction as per recommendations. It was postulated that the inappropriate ADH secretion was mediated by increased inflammatory cytokines, especially interleukin 6 may be a direct effect of the SARS-CoV-2 infection itself. Conclusion In the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, acute symptomatic hyponatremia without an obvious cause could be an atypical, isolated manifestation of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Awareness of these uncommon presentations is important so that specific treatment protocols or recommendations can be created and instituted to address this likely reversible but potentially fatal presentation of COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

This study explores market timing and stock selection by investment managers during the Covid-19 in Indonesia. By applying several sample criteria to the population of mutual funds registered at OJK, we found 55 stock mutual funds using the purposive sampling. We processed data using the STATA16 computer program. The Treynor-Mazuy conditional inflation and exchange rate model, according to the findings of this study, can show that market timing and stock selection for mutual fund managers have a positive and significant impact on improving the performance of equity fund portfolios during the pandemic in Indonesia. In Indonesia, there are 5 equities mutual funds having positive or market timing skills, accounting for 9.09 percent of all equity mutual funds, whereas the remaining 90.91 percent do not. The positive coefficient of the gamma variable shows that the investment manager’s ability to market time is expected to result in higher stock mutual fund returns. Positive or stock selectivity characteristics are available in 45 equity mutual funds, or 81.18 percent. The contribution of this study focuses on exchange rate and inflation. However, there needs to be a relevant follow-up comparison before the pandemic occurs. In addition, it is necessary to consider other elements in the macro-economy. © 2022, University of National and World Economy. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

Agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors were the most important sectors that can increase community income in Sigi Regency after the earthquake, liquefaction, and COVID-19 pandemic occured. This fact can be seen from a dominant contribution given by these sectors towards the formation of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in Sigi Regency on the basis of the current price that is 43,21% in 2018. Those GRDP acquisitions were not yet known from what commodity and which sub-district, therefore more detailed information is needed. This study aimed to analyze various leading food crop commodities and examine the growth structure of food crop commodities in Sigi Regency. The methods used were Location Quotient (LQ) and Klassen Typology (KT) approach with the data collection on food crop commodity production from 2015-2019. LQ method produces commodities that were classified as a relatively leading level, i.e. Sweet Potatoes, Cassava, Peanuts, and Green Beans. Meanwhile, KT analysis divided agricultural commodities into four categories: (i) Sweet Potatoes, Cassava, Peanuts and Green Beans were categorized as the developed commodities;(ii) No crop was categorized as the stagnant commodities;(iii) Corn and Soybeans were categorized as potential or developing commodities;and (iv) Rice was categorized as an underdeveloped commodity.

ABSTRACT

Banyuwangi Regency is the largest soybean producer in East Java with an average harvest area of 29,149 ha / year in the 2008-2018 period. The fluctuation of soybean production in Banyuwangi Regency, which tends to decline by an average of 6% / year and a decrease in harvested area by an average of 7% / year in the 2008-2018 period, encourages the need for a study of soybean performance. The decline in soybean production and harvested area was caused by several factors, including fluctuations in soybean prices, a very good perception of imported soybeans and trade offs with rice cultivation. To overcome the management of agricultural resources that are increasingly threatening the aspects of sustainability, this research tries to find a solution by finding the leveraging attributes and formulating development policy scenarios as the basis for a sustainable increase in local soybean production and harvest area in Banyuwangi Regency. With the development of policy scenarios, it is hoped that the agricultural sector will remain strong in providing food for the community, especially in the current Covid-19 pandemic conditions. The data analysis technique used is multidimensional analysis followed by Leverage analysis and Monte Carlo analysis. The results showed that the sustainability status of local soybean development in Banyuwangi Regency was 55.10 (the social dimension was quite sustainable), 49.17 (the economic dimension was less sustainable), and 46.90 (the quality dimension was less sustainable). The local soybean development policy scenario includes: changing the food management system. become corporate farming, expand marketing access, and conduct periodic analysis and evaluation.

ABSTRACT

Crisis or outbreak may cause any individual to be mentally and emotionally affected. The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (henceforth Covid-19) pandemic had cause a deep and universal impact on global mental health as many struggles to survive within restricted and uncommon lifestyle. During the Covid-19 pandemic, any individual may experience stress, anxiety, sadness and loneliness. Therefore, some of affected individuals might need a platform to enable them to express their thoughts and feelings anonymously without exposing their identities. This paper proposed a real-time WebRTC-based communication platform to facilitate the needs of mental support by affected individual during the pandemic and Movement Control Order (henceforth MCO). The proposed model uses the concept of random call and anonymity during the two-way communication via Voice over IP (VoIP). The application implements WebRTC to support the real-time communication. The signalling server is used to initiate the connection between the client and STUN/TURN server to run the network addresses translation. Furthermore, to ensure anonymity in the communication channel, a randomization algorithm has is implemented. © 2020, World Academy of Research in Science and Engineering. All rights reserved.
